Nichola Fisher

I joined DBS in 2019, in charge of leading the new skills-based STEAM curriculum. I am extremely passionate about engaging children with discovery-based learning and helping them develop skills for the 21century. I taught Secondary Science for 4 years in Scotland before moving to Dubai and teaching for a further 8 years (5 of which were formerly at Dubai British School). After winning an entrepreneurial award in 2016, I left teaching to set up my first Science-based business, Rock it Science, which focuses on inspiring young children to love the subject and I am definitely known as a ‘Mad Scientist’!

This lead me on a new educational journey, where I worked as an educational consultant for many Dubai schools to support their STEAM curriculum, written and delivered teacher training workshops and set up a second business, My Discovery Lab, producing STEAM-based resources with monthly magazines and at-home Science kits for young children.

I am a family person and love spending time with my three sons who attend the school.

Best Moment in Teaching

It must be the satisfaction of seeing ideas come to life in the STEAM lab. Children are so innovative, and it amazes me, given the right opportunities just how much they can achieve
