Faces of DBS Secondary Special Education Needs

I am from Aberdeen in Scotland, but left there in 2008 with my husband and 3 children and moved to Stavanger in Norway for 3 years.  Whilst my children attended The International School of Stavanger, I joined the PE department and helped them teach students from kindergarten all the way through to High School.  We then moved to Paris, France for a couple of years before settling here in Dubai in 2013.

I joined DBS in March 2015 as a Inclusion Learning Assistant before finding my current role in the Secondary Inclusion Department.  My role here is supporting the students in BTEC Business and Travel, by helping them with research, guidance and time management skills.

I also help out with volleyball coaching at the school.  I used to love playing volleyball, but now when I have time, I love to travel and play golf.

Best Moment In Teaching

Everyday, we have positive teaching moments, so it would be hard for me to pick just one.  However, it was so pleasing to see one of my students recently, who had asked for some guidance, quotes and personal opinion and use it in a presentation given to one of the teachers here.  It passed to Distinction quality; the student was delighted and it made me very happy that I could contribute.
