Faces of DBS Year 2

From a young age, all the way through to my undergraduate degree at University, everyone around me knew I would become a teacher. It was not until my final year at the University of Nottingham, when studying elements of child psychology, that I made the decision to start a PGCE – that everyone could finally say ‘I told you so!’

I began my teaching career at a wonderful school in Nottingham, with a family feel just like DBS. I taught in Year 4 for four years and trained a student teacher during that time. Despite being happy at this school, I was keen for adventure and sunshine - I moved to Dubai in 2017 to join the DBS Primary school.

I am going into my seventh year of teaching and have worked across KS1 and KS2, I am loving the creativity and imagination of working in KS1. In my spare time I am an avid gym goer and I enjoy training for Obstacle Course Races which are great fun! My favourite place to be is at the beach, with a good book in one hand and a coffee in the other.

Best teaching moment:

As a teacher, there are so many wonderful moments as no two days are ever the same! The best ones are; when something finally clicks (the ‘light bulb’ moments), when the class is totally hooked on a topic, positive feedback from parents and seeing the pride on a child’s face when they have worked hard on something – to name just a few!
