Faces of DBS Social Studies Department

Born and raised in East London, home to the finest chicken and chips ever, after my family moved to the closest thing you could probably get to a suburb in London, it made me appreciate the value of education and the opportunities it can provide. Having taught in an outstanding school for many years in the UK, I wished to do the same in the UAE.

I joined DBS in 2019 as their Secondary Econimics and Business Studies in search of a new challenge and it has been absolutely amazing. I want my time in the classroom to be as enjoyable for the students as it is for me. Beyond the classroom I am interested in football, swimming, boxing, martial arts, hiking, technology and anything else that makes me sound cool. I aim to support all aspects of all my students learning and development. Hence why I believe the UAE is the best place to be! a quote “as a teacher affects eternity, he can never tell where his influence stops”

Best moment in teaching?

There are only two types of students really, those that study Economics and Business and those that wish they did. The finest moments are always when the students succeed. Once a student gets the thirst of learning they realise learning is more fun when it is meaningful. The outcome of supporting their newly enlightened passion acts as a springboard for their careers and it always truly amazes me to see how their lives have changed as a result. This is what teaching is all about. I just hope they all remember me when they’re successful because I really like fast cars...
