Originally from Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, I left Wales to study at Southampton University, graduating with a degree in English in 1993.

Following my degree, I moved to Bristol to complete a PGCE with a Primary education focus before taking up my first teaching role in rural Hampshire. After three fantastic years in Hampshire, I moved abroad launching my international teaching career in Taiwan.

Subsequently, I have held headships in both Malaysia and Egypt prior to joining Dubai British School initially as Primary Headteacher before taking the Principal role in 2019.

While holding these leadership roles I have completed an MBA with De Montfort University, Leicester, and the NPQH from the National College of School Leadership. I have a keen interest in Positive Education and am a strong advocate for developing education that blends both academic successes, the development of character and wellbeing. I am currently studying for a further Masters degree in Positive Psychology.

Best Moment In Teaching:

Assemblies, productions, concerts and performances are always a highlight for me. The opportunity to share, and celebrate, success with students, their teachers and often parents is just brilliant. The enthusiasm, joy and happiness coupled with real life learning experiences opportunities like these provide, really bring a school community together, giving everyone the chance to shine.
