Notice to candidates applying for positions at Dubai British School.

It has come to our attention during 2009 that a number of colleagues around the world have received bogus “contracts” offering positions at our school.

We are aware of a current fraud in which teachers of ESL are being targeted, offered contracts and then asked to send large sums of money to process visas and work permits.

Please note:

•    We always conduct “live” interviews, normally in person and occasionally by Skype or telephone

•    Our salary scales are NOT designated in US Dollars, Pounds or Euros

•    We NEVER ask for the transfer of money to process visa applications prior to arrival

Therefore NEVER send money if asked to by an apparent representative of our school, especially if asked to send to a Currency Exchange agency.

If you have been asked to send money, you can be sure that the “offer” is fraudulent.

We have reported a number of these bogus offers to the Dubai authorities.

At the time of writing (late June 2009) we are NOT advertising any position as being vacant. We are in regular contact with all our appointees for 2009 about arrangements for arrival at DBS later this year.

Andrew Homden,

Principal, DBS,

June 25, 2009.
