Head of Foundation Stage & FS1 teacher - Carolyn Gorham
Carolyn studied English and the History of Art and Design at Loughborough University and after the completion of her first degree she went on to study her PGCE, with a specialism in Early Years Education, at The Westminster Institute of Education, Oxford Brookes University. Carolyn’s first teaching post was in Oxford, teaching a mixed Year 1 and 2 Class. After three years Carolyn relocated to Stratford Upon Avon and became part of the Senior Management Team teaching in a Reception (Foundation 2) class in Warwick.
Foundation Stage 1 teacher - Sara Rostek
While living and working in Hong Kong Sara studied for a Masters in International Human Resource Management through MacQuarie University of Australia. After moving to the United Kingdom she completed a diploma in Interior Design and then attended Wolverhampton University and gained a Bachelor of Science, Honours in Interior Architectural Design in 2003.
Sara then moved to Australia with her family where she attended Monash University and graduated with a Post Graduate Degree in Education in 2005. In 2006 she moved with their family and she joined Dubai British School, teaching in the Foundation Unit. She has also become involved with the senior students, setting up an Internal Awards Program for Years 7 and 8, as well as becoming involved with the International Young Persons Award and enabling students to become involved in an international art project, culminating in the art work that the students completed being displayed at an International exhibition in Athens on 2008.
Foundation Stage 1 teacher - Rachel Field
Rachel graduated from the University of Leeds with a BA in Sociology followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of Newcastle, 2003. She spent four years teaching in the North East of England where she was the subject leader for Science. She has been teaching in Dubai for two years in Foundation stage and Year 2. She enjoys life in Dubai, travelling as much as possible, using Dubai as a base to see countries in Asia and Africa.
Foundation Stag e 1 teacher - Jenny Howard
Jenny graduated from Leicester University in 2005 with a degree in Geography. She took a year out to travel to Fiji, working on coral reef conservation, also travelling to America, Australia and Thailand. After a year working in the offices of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and also at an after-school club, she studied for a PGCE specialising in Early Years at the University of East Anglia. Since she graduated in 2008, she has taught at a small, rural school near Stevenage, teaching a mixed Reception and Year 1 class. Jenny enjoys swimming and outdoor activities.
Foundation Stage 2 teacher - Lynn McLaren
Lynn graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a Bachelor of Education. She has been teaching in Dubai for the past three years, working in three different key stages. Previous to this she taught on the island of Shetland off Scotland for a year in a large primary school. She enjoys travelling and before moving to Shetland went travelling for four months.
Foundation Stage 2 teacher - Amanda Tuckey
After graduating from Queensland University of Technology in 1991 with a Bachelor of Teaching majoring in Early Childhood, Amanda started her career in a small country school on the outskirts of Brisbane, Australia teaching Year 3. It was there that she continued her university study graduating with a Bachelor of Education as well as training to become the schools Harassment Referral Officer which required her to counsel children who were dealing with problems associated with peers or family. In 1997 Amanda moved to London and for a six month period taught Year 3 in a Church of England School, and spent the rest of the year travelling. From there she returned to Brisbane, Australia and accepted a role as a Year 1 Teacher from the start of the 1998 school year. While working full time in Year 1, Amanda also took on the roles of Key Teacher in Literacy and the Diagnostic Net, Independent Observer for Reading Recovery, Early Childhood Coordinator and continued her role as Harassment Referral Officer. She was honored to be nominated for a National Excellence in Teaching Award in 2001. In the same year Amanda returned to London to work in a dynamic multicultural Beacon Primary School where she took on the role of Head of Year 1 and EMAG Teacher. She returned to Brisbane in 2004 where she started part-time across a range of year levels (years 1 to 6) work while having her two children and in 2008 Amanda joined Dubai British School.
