Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies Teacher - Amneh Hijazi
Amneh graduated from Motah University, Jordan in 1994 and subsequently worked in Al Jahiz School as an Arabic and Islamic teacher for four years. She then moved to the UAE, working at the School of Research Science where she taught Years 4 to 7. Amneh joined DBS in 2007 as a teacher of Primary Arabic after a period at the Emirates National School in Abu Dhabi, where she won the award for exemplarary teaching in 2007.
Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies Teacher - Khloud Shmayleh
Khloud graduated from the University of Jordan in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts in Arabic, History and Philosophy. After graduating she worked in a Jordanian government school teaching Arabic history. After completing a Higher Diploma in School Management and with the desire to broaden her outlook she decided to move abroad and took up a position of a teacher at an international school in Sharjah. Here she taught Arabic for non Arabs as well as Social Studies to Arabs. One of the highlights of this period was in 2007 when she was presented with the ‘Board of Governors Teacher of the Year Award’. Her Arabic for non Arabic speakers IGCSE results were almost invariably 100% pass rate with many of those students gaining ‘A’s and ‘A*’s. In recognition of her experience and abilities she has been asked to prepare the Ministry Examination in Sharjah on more than one occasion. She was for many years in charge of the Helpers’ Society, a club dedicated to raising money for charity. In particular, with her help the students raised enough money to build a clinic in the Sudan and to sponsor more than 50 orphans worldwide. For Khloud teaching is not just a job but also her favourite pastime; in her own time she published a book specially for teaching Arabic communication skills to non Arab students. Any extra time is devoted to reading and sport.
Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies Teacher - Iba' Awni Masri
Iba’ gained a degree in Economics and Business Administration in 1989 from the University of Jordan and worked in this field for many years before changing career when she had her daughter. Iba’ took the Montessori program Diploma in 2000 and started her career in education with teaching special needs on one to one basis, then moving on to teach Arabic for Kingergarten students in a large nursery in Dubai. After three years Iba’ moved on to teach Arabic and Islamic Studies for non Arabic speaking students from Kindergarten up to Grade 6 where she taught with passion, particularly enjoying the progress and achievements of her students.
Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies Teacher - Rania Reda
Rania graduated from Cairo University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts, specializing in Arabic Language. She also completed a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2008. She worked for 4 years at Future Private School in Egypt, as an Arabic and Islamic Teacher for secondary classes. She relocated to Dubai in 2008, where she started working as an Arabic Teacher for Primary students She is now completing her Masters Degree in Education at the British University, Dubai.
Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies Teacher - Hala Bazna
Hala Bazna, Studied English literature at Damascus University, Syria. She began her career in Education at Al Bayan Bilingual School, Kuwait, as a Nursery Teacher’s assistant. During her 10 years there she held the positions of Nursery supervisor and Head Arabic teacher. In expanding her line of expertise, Hala worked with students with Learning Disabilities at Fawzia Al Sultan Learning Institute, Kuwait, as an Arabic and science teacher for one year. This was followed by a year’s stint as the school’s pre-academic, therapeutic program coordinator.
When Hala got married she moved with her husband to Riyadh and lived there for 15 years. During this time she obtained her teaching certificate as well as her Master’s in Education, from The College of New Jersey, USA.In Riyadh, Hala worked for 5 years as an Arabic Culture and Language teacher at the American International School of Riyadh (AIS-R); and until recently as a the K-G 3 coordinator and Arabic teacher at Advanced Learning schools, an IB, DB & PYP accredited school. Hala is very much looking forward to being a part of the DBS community.

Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies Teacher - Rana Kanaan
Rana got her Bachelor degree in Journalism-Mass Communication and Public Relations from Yarmouk University. She started her career at Al Quds Open Learning University as Assistant to the Director and Producer of TV educational Programmes. She joined the Federation of Jordanian Chambers of Commerce as Head the Information and Documentation Department. Rana extended her involvement in education and Teaching through her work at various International Schools such as Qatar Academy, Emirates International School and Dubai International Academy as teacher for Arabic and Islamic Studies. Throughout her career Rana participated in several training courses conducted by United Nations and the League for Arab States in Geneva and Tunisia and was a Youth Advisor Volunteer at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Youth volunteer programme. Rana is a Reikei master teaching meditation for adults and values for children.
