Qualifications and experience

It is important that all candidates read and understand the General Information in our Careers section before applying. It is especially vital to ensure that you hold the correct qualifications and have the requisite experience. In the case of subject specialists, we would anticipate a minimum of two years' (and probably more) qualified teaching experience. All candidates must have completed 12 years of Primary and Secondary education.

Profile

Over the last two years, the school library has been firmly established at the heart of the school. The collection has grown, while our secondary and primary libraries are popular and well used centres of learning, for investigation, teaching and the sheer enjoyment of reading. The successful candidate will be responsible not only for developing and maintaining the school libraries as a central resource, but will also play a leading role in promoting the love of books, reading and research conducted by all members of our community. We are looking for a fully qualified academic teacher-librarian who has a sound understanding not only of library administration but also of curriculum matters: someone who can assist staff as they develop programmes for their students. While we are an English National Curriculum school, librarians who have worked in IB schools, or have experience in high-quality national systems which use English as the language of instruction, would be very welcome applicants.

The successful candidate will be IT literate, and preferably able to play an important role in developing aspects of the school's IT capability. Teaching and outreach are central to the job, while maintaining the school's new text book collection has become of increasing importance. There are two assistant librarians working under the teacher - librarian, and we are very fortunate in the number of community volunteers who contribute to the library's work.
