Qualifications and Experience
It is important that all candidates read and understand the General Information in our Careers section before applying. It is especially vital to ensure that you hold the correct qualifications and have the requisite experience. In the case of subject specialists, we would anticipate a minimum of two years' (and probably more) qualified teaching experience. All candidates must have completed 12 years of Primary and Secondary education.
Profile
Drama is taught within our Expressive Arts Faculty in Key Stage 3 (where it is studied by all students), Key Stage 4 and the Sixth Form, to AS and A2 levels. We are looking for a person who has taught successfully across the secondary age-range to pre-university level. While we are an A Level School, and experience in teaching AS and A2 is an advantage for candidates, teachers who have taught IB Diploma programmes or have experience in high-quality national systems which use English as the language of instruction, would be very welcome applicants. All staff at DBS are expected to undertake a responsibility for some aspect of school life, and the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation and administration of the secondary Drama curriculum, working under the Director of Expressive Arts.
This position represents an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher of Drama. It would suit a person who is either looking to continue an already successful career pathway or an experienced professional seeking to resume teaching, possibly on a part-time basis. Whatever the stage of your career, we are looking for certain qualities: you will love your subject and have the ability to inspire our students.
While Drama within the curriculum would be the main focus for the successful candidate, an ability and willingness to make a major contribution to our extra- curricular activities (ECA) programme would be essential. We would expect the successful candidate to be responsible for at least 2 production in the year, in addition to facilitating performances for assessment purposes.
If you are interested in applying for the post, please e-mail the Principal on careers@dubaibritishschool.ae with a full letter of application and CV stating clearly which post you are applying for in the subject line.
