Dear Parents,
School Self-Evaluation
A major focus for the school this year has been to develop a rigorous and systematic school self-evaluation process. The purpose of self-evaluation is to bring about improvement in teaching and learning through reflective practice and it is a process that should involve all key stakeholders: teaching staff, students and you, the parents.
With this in mind, I would ask you to take 15 minutes over the next week to complete an online questionnaire, which focuses on the quality of Teaching and Learning at Dubai British School. Your feedback, as a parent, would be very much appreciated. The questionnaire can be accessed by the following the link:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DBSteachingandlearning
As the year comes to a close and we start to identify our priorities for the next academic year, this information will provide us with valuable feedback on what we do well in the classroom and, more importantly, what we need to develop.
Thank you, as always, for taking the time to support the school.
Sports Awards ceremony
We are very excited about the amazing number of families attending our first Sports Personality of the Year Awards ceremony. Tickets are now available to be collected from the marketing office. Please be reminded that invited students that are attending this event should have also purchased a ticket for themselves. If this is not the case, please get in touch with us by Sunday 20th May 2012. Entry to the event will be restricted to ticket holders only.
Rehearsal session is taking place on Thursday 31st May in the school’s Sports Hall at 1:30pm. All students who are attending the event are expected to come. The rehearsal will last approximately one hour so please arrange appropriate transport for your child.

Primary Sports Kits
As the sports seasons and leagues are now finished we need all pupils, who have represented teams, to return all sports kits. Please can you check at home and return any kit to the PE office as soon as possible.
Hats & Water for PE
Please ensure your child brings a hat and water bottle to every PE lesson. Conditions are becoming very hot and humid and too many children are still turning up to lessons without any water. We appreciate your help in ensuring the children stay hydrated throughout lessons.
Cookie Sale
Year Four are starting a topic on Money and Trade and as an introduction will be holding a cookie sale next Thursday 24th June. The children will have designed and made the cookies themselves during the week. Cookies will cost just a few Dirhams and they will be on sale during first and possibly second break for both Primary and Secondary.
So come and taste our scrummy cookies. All proceeds are to go to charity.
e-sports Summer Camp program at Dubai British School
A nine week Summer Camp will run at DBS provided by E-Sports from 1st July to 30th August. The summer camp programme will offer a balance of Sport and Art & Craft activities, ensuring each session is perfectly suited to the age and ability of the camper. We take full advantage of our location's great facilities with health and safety always being our top priority, ensuring your peace of mind.
We strive for all campers to be able to enjoy their holiday whilst getting the most out of their time with us therefore we encourage children to participate fully with many activities to choose from. The structure of each session allows children to enjoy the activity whilst placing them in a position where they can make new friends and grow in sport and confidence. Students should not give their textbooks to their subject teachers. The library will not be able to sign any clearance forms until all books have been returned.
